Based at The Homestead you can to take day trips to The Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, The Tauranga Bay (Cape Foulwind) seal colony, The Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, or try out the memories to be found at Shantytown, The nearby beautiful Hokitika Gorge and scenic Lakes Kaniere & Mahinapua are not to be missed.

Want to experience a Great Train Journey then we are only 20 minutes from the famous Tranz Alpine Train which runs from Greymouth to Christchurch each day, travelling through the high mountains, river gorges, viaducts, past lakes and farmlands.

The route is the same one that has been used since the days of steam when the line was first opened for rail traffic.

The engineering has to be seen to be believed and the stories of the building of this line are almost as spectacular as the scenery through which it passes on its way to Christchurch City and the International Airport from where you may be leaving Aotearoa (New Zealand).
